Real Madrid To Sign Cristiano Ronaldo for £80m

After being the subject of intense transfer speculation, Manchester United finally ended the “when will he sign for Real Madrid” debate regarding Cristiano Ronaldo today. Real Madrid’s world record offer of £80 Million for the 24 year old has been accepted by Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo or “tranny” as he is affectionately known by the blue half of Manchester, has been playing some excellent football for United but it was clear that there wasn’t enough room for both the player and his ego in the Premiership.

In his 6 years at Old Trafford we have seen the Portugese player go through more than a few tubs of hair gel, frowns, screams, dives and at least 3 million stepovers. For the majority of United fans this won’t have come as a surprise. It was only a matter of time before Alex Ferguson cashed in on Ronaldo after his outbursts and antics on and off the pitch at Old Trafford became more regular.

United manager Alex Ferguson has had many famous spats with players and managers, and Ronaldo will have been no different. Ronaldo was obviously difficult to manage. So brilliant a footballer, but so petulant and generally annoying as a person. Many will think United will be lost without Cristiano but Ferguson has been here before and always seems to replace the seemingly irreplaceable.

“History will remember him very well in terms of his contribution as a footballer, he’ll also be seen as petulant, egotistical and stubborn but he’s been a wonderful player,” said United.

It took time for Ronaldo to find his best form after arriving in England but he became a pivotal player for United, who have won the last three Premier League titles.
In the 2007-08 season he scored 42 goals, which topped the previous club record for a midfielder held by George Best, and was on the scoresheet as United defeated Chelsea in the Champions League final.

His form through 2008 saw him named Fifa World Player of the Year in January, just a month after he won the Ballon d’Or as the European Player of the Year.
Ronaldo was the top scorer for his club last season, with 26 goals, taking his total for United to 118 in 292 appearances.

Kaka Has Medical To Sign For Real Madrid

Brazilian Superstar Kaka has his medical in Brazil at the request of Real Madrid and is set to sign for the Spanish giants from AC Milan. The recent return of Florentino Perez as Real President has meant that his club are attempting to return to the Galactico days when their team featured the likes of Zidane, Beckham, Ronaldo and Figo and he was also then the owner.

Kaka who was World Footballer of the Year in 2007, is expected to complete his medical in Brazil and sign for a new world record fee of £56 million. A host of Premier League clubs had been linked to the club over recent months. Manchester City made an audacious bid in January with an offer of £100 million for the 27 year old but he decided against the move after Milan had agreed a fee. He was also linked to Chelsea, following the arrival of Carlos Ancelotti, his former AC Milan manager but it appears that Real Madrid have won the race.

Kaka originally signed for Milan from Sao Paulo in 2003 for only 8.5 million euros and in that time he has lifted the Champions League and the Serie A title. Perez has promised more big name signings and News Blog RC will be interested to see who Real will target next.

The ICC World 20/20 Cup of Cricket has begun in the UK. This is arguably the most exciting version of cricket with teams only having 20 overs to get the highest score, encouraging both the batting and bowling sides to attack. England suffered a shock defeat at the hands of the Netherlands in their opening game and now require a victory against Pakistan today or face elimination from the tournament.

Yesterday saw Australia and the West Indies begin their tournaments with a thrilling match. Australia were the first to bat and took advantage of some lacklustre fielding from the West Indies to finish at 169, with a few wobbles along the way.

After this Chris Gayle opened the batting for the West Indies and played was ultimately a match winning innings as the West Indies crusied to victory. Gayle finished with 88 runs in 50 balls including some huge sixes which ended up outside the stadium.
